Today I hosted playgroup at my house. Kathleen actually co-hosted with me (couldn't have done it withut her) and it was a success. We had a "back to school" theme, all the kids brought their lunch in their new school lunchboxes and Celeste from Storytime Pals came and read a few books with puppets and facilitated a craft to go along with the story. The kids really seemed to enjoy it. She began with The Kissing Hand, let me recommend this book to all little ones who will be starting school or even preschool. My mom got this book for Tyson when he started going to Mothers Day Out and it has been a favorite ever since.
The kids got to play some instruments and sing songs too.
still singing
The older kiddos seemed to enjoy the craft. Look how focused they all are.
Although these little ones held their own.
Wow, all that crafting can really make a kid hungry! If you would have told me that 18 kids (ranging from 15 mos to 5 yrs) would actually sit and eat at the same time, I would have thought you were NUTS, but I have to say they all behaved so well. And, there were no furniture casualties, no spills, and no one got hurt. Now that's sayin something!!! I would call that a successful playgroup!!!
Who's hosting next month?
Oh Yay! It looks like it was a huge success and so fun! Can't wait to hear all about it. I was thinking about you today! :)
