Emerson's Bake Shoppe

It's getting more and more difficult to come up with creative birthday party ideas for Em.  This year we decided on "cake decorating" themed party, complete with hats and aprons.  In theory it seemed simple and super cute.  Just a few girls, some plain cakes to decorate and maybe some personalized chefs hats.  Anyone that knows me or has been reading this blog long enough knows that "simple" and "birthday party" are three words I never use in the same sentence.  I started prepping for this celebration months ago.  I bought hats when they went on sale at Hobby Lobby, same with the aprons, then I made each girl a cake plate to decorate their cake on because each little baker had to have a cake pedastool.  I personalized each hat with the girl's name on them. Then I needed cake boxes for each girl too.   And the list went on....and on.

The fruits of my labor........

The cake plates came out cute......not bad for a $1 glass candlestick holder from Dollar Tree spray painted white and glued to a $1 plate.

Then there were the hats, ready to be adorned with floweres made out of cupcake liners.

The girls enjoyed the flower making process and proudly displayed them on their little hats.

Ready to get started........

So much FUN.  The mommies had just as much fun as the little cake decorators!

My heart!

Could she be any cuter in this little hat?!?

You know me.......I took lots of pictures.

To be continued!

She's really 5!!!

Time really does fly by and you really can't stop it.  Really?!?  Seems like I just wrote this post, or that one.  I often feel like I just had this little girl and honestly cannot believe she is 5!  Em's birthday fell on a Wednesday and her birthday party wasn't till Saturday.  I wanted her birthday morning to be special.  I think I succeeded!

She woke up to a brand new pink and purple bicycle surrounded by pink and purple balloons in the living room.

Mom and Dad got her all the accessories a girl could need for a new bike, a light up floral basket, a super loud bell and of course a fancy helmet.

After Em put on her new outift from Grandma we headed out to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast.

We couldn't celeberate without Savannah!

Happy 5th birthday punkin!

Birthday celebration continued.....

Tyson did not have a birthday party this year, instead we took him and three of his buddies to a RedHawks game.  Words cannot describe how much fun it was. We started with cake and a little celebrating at the house then we headed downtown for America's favorite pastime.

Just take a look.......................

Ice cream cake from Coldstone Creamery......and it did NOT disappoint!

 Obviously, we live in Oklahoma!!!

 heading in......

Crazy boys!

 The whole crew!

It was cap night!  Every one got their choice of red or the white one.  Em wanted the same one the boys picked.

First we ate in the picnic area

I was really just hoping no one ended up in the outfield!

Happy 8th Birthday Tyson!!!

As Emerson said earlier today, "Now can we be all done celebrating Tyson's birthday?  It's been like two weeks."

New Wheels

We got Tyson a new bike for his birthday.  It took him all of five minutes to get comfortable on it and adjust to the hand brakes.  Now he's a riding machine.

Two things about this picture:  First, look at that hand!  What happened to my little Tyson's chubby hand?  Who's "manhand" is that?  Second:  See the orange thing.  It's a GPS that he mounted on to his handle bars.  Just like his Daddy.  You can't just leave things alone.  You have to add stuff, mess with things, tweak them.  When I asked, "why do you need a GPS?" He informed me that it had a compass on it and I didn't want him to get lost, right?

I sure love my 8 year old!

Time. It just keeps on tickin.......

I feel like I just wrote this same post last year.....or the year before....or even the year before that.  Basically these years are just flying by and there is nothing I can do to stop them.  I have an eight year old......those words are just difficult to write.  Instead of getting sappy and emotional I will focus on the things that make Tyson who he is at age 8.  My Tyson is very intelligent and witty at the same time.  He enjoys school and he LOVES to read.  Science and history are equally as exciting to him.  His other passion is just being outside, riding his scooter, playing with any ball and now riding his new big bicycle, and he still loves to play on his Kindle Fire.  He likes to watch and wear any thing OU, OKC Thunder and now he has developed a new love for the Texas Rangers. He also likes "work-out" clothes, anything athletic or sporty.  I have no idea where he got this thing for clothing and brands. He's a pretty well rounded kid and I'm so glad he's mine.

The birthday boy at 6:30 in the morning.

We got him some new tennis shoes, a size 4 I might add.

Grandma and Grandpa sent him some Ranger gear (in preparation for our Ranger game with them this summer)

He also got a Lego gift card from Paul's parents.  I'm sure we have a trip to the Lego store in our near future.

Mom and Dad got him his very own Ranger jersey too.......he loved it!!!

Chocolate chip muffins for breakfast this morning.

Instead of a birthday party we are taking Tyson and three of his buddies to a Redhawks game next Saturday.  So today is birthday celebration part 1 and the rest to be continued.........
