My absolute FALL FAVORITES

I took over 140 pictures yesterday however these are my favorite!!!!

 Happy Fall Ya'll

Pumpkin Patch, part 2

As usual I may have taken a few too many pictures.  I just can't help myself especially when my little subjects are cooperating!

It's a Fall Tradition

Every fall we have taken the kids to a pumpkin patch, unfortunately this time last year we were in the middle of moving out of our home and into an extended stay hotel till we could find a house in Oklahoma.  Wow!  Things can really change in one year!  Anyway, back to this year......this was our first pumpkin patch trip in OK.  The weather was perfect and we had a great time.

Sitting with pumpkins was great but the kids really enjoyed every thing else from hay rides, slides, swinging from ropes and jumping on hay bales.

 to be continued........

Go Eagles!

My kids have never been to a high school football game.....in fact I'm sure I hadn't been to a high school game since I was in high school 4, 5 or 16 years ago.  But who's counting?  Anyway, when my friend Tyler asked if we wanted to go to her sister Madison's game the kids couldn't wait.  My kids LOVE Madison.  She's the coolest 17 year old they know......possibly the only one they know.

The kids really enjoyed the whole experience.  It's a small private school so the game was on a small field and we were able to sit really close.

Em even caught her first spirit stick!

Madison took the kids out onto the field at halftime.

She told Em to wear her cheerleading uniform and of course she got use the "real cheerleader pom poms."

Not bad for a first Friday Night Football experience!

Double Chocolate Pumpkin cake with my little punkin

As the temperature cools down I can't help but turn the oven on and bake, bake, and more baking!!!  I have an addiction.  My name is Jill and my week is not complete if I haven't used my mixer at least twice.  I was scrolling through different recipe blogs and I found this delicious looking Double Chocolate Pumpkin Cake with a Spice Buttercream.  Sold!

What you need to make this decadent cake:

1 box devils food cake mix
1 small box chocolate fudge instant pudding
1/2 c canola oil
1/2 c milk
1/2 c sour cream
4 eggs
1 -15 ounce can pumpkin (reserve about 2 tablespoons for for buttercream)
2 c semi sweet chocolate chips

Spice buttercream
2 sticks unsalted softened butter
2 T pumpkin
1/4 t cinnamon
4 cups powdered sugar
2-3 T milk

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Spray 2 9x5 loaf pans with cooking spray and line bottom with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl place all cake ingredients and mix till well combined, about 2 minutes.  Divide cake batter into two loaf pans and bake for 50-60 minutes.  Let cool in pans for about 10 minutes then turn out onto cooling racks.
  • Once cakes are cool place butter, 2 T reserved pumpkin, and cinnamon into bowl.  Mix on high till well combined then slowly add powdered sugar until thick and creamy.  Slowly add the milk till desired consistency.  Frost over cooled cakes then slice.
Warning:  It's dangerously moist and delicious!

The Dolittle Family.........we are NOT.

Sometimes I just have to laugh at the things that go on around here.  I mean is it too much to ask that my husband drive down the street and simply pass by the turtle that is minding his own business?  Or does he HAVE to rescue it and bring it home. In reality maybe he actually turtle-napped him, I don't think he was in any danger nor did he need rescuing.   All I know is that one minute I'm making dinner and the next my family is in the garage trying to find a box and assemble a makeshift turtle habitat.  They even took hay from my harvest display on my porch.   Really?!?  Can we not just eat dinner and watch the Ranger game like other normal families.

"Can we pleeeeeeze keep him?"

My name is Franklin, I'm an Ornate Box Turtle and I've been turtle-napped by this family.
Please send help.

Family Rivalry

I think I like football.  I used to enjoy the Dallas Cowboy years ago.  But in the last seven or eight years I have not been a fan.  And I am fortunate to have a husband that does not spend his entire weekend on the couch watching football games.  However living in Oklahoma I have started watching the OU games and have found myself really enjoying college games.

Am I an OU fan like my son?  The truth is I'm not real sure. It's hard to live in this state and not be consumed by the Boomer Sooner craze.  It's a little contagious.  Thus my shirt.

Obviously these two had no issues jumping on the Sooner bandwagon.
