Big Changes

Here is my BIG 1st grader.......soon to be BIG 2nd grader! WOW!!!! All I can say is time really does fly. When he was younger I found myself saying things like, "When is he gonna sleep through the night? When is he gonna talk? When is he gonna eat by himself? When is he gonna be ok leaving me?" Now I find myself saying, can I just stop time? Can we slow it down? He is growing up and maturing so fast. It's unbelievable!

I took Tyson to breakfast on his last day of 1st grade. He choose Daylight Donuts.

Another school year, another class field trip

I was fortunate enough to chaperon Tyson's class field trip again this year. We took a visit to the Edmond Safety Village then followed that with a picnic lunch at Mitch park.

My favorite part of volunteering with Tyson's class is that I get a first hand look at Tyson in his element with his friends. He has really made a great bunch of friends, you would never think we moved here less than 5 months ago.

Jake

About four weeks ago Tyson came home from school asking for a large jar, a piece of scrap material and a piece of ribbon. He informed me they would be making "mud babies." Well today our mud baby came home.......his name is Jake, and he needs a haircut. Tyson was so proud of Jake, he even took him next door to Sherri's, so she could meet him too.

Happy Birthday Cross Timbers!

Tyson came home yesterday from school all upset because the music teacher was going to make them wear make-up for the music program. And according to Tyson, "that was for girls." We had a long discussion about "stage make-up," I explained to him that stage make-up was different from the kind of make-up Mommy wears. Today after his dress rehearsal he was on board. He was pretty excited for his music program. And it was so stinkin CUTE!!!!

Can I just tell you how proud I was of my Buddy. Not only did he sing at his program but he also danced. This is HUGE for Tyson! He is so reserved and serious, so to see him up on stage doing choreographed moves was pretty jaw dropping. I totally teared up when the curtain opened.

(how cute is that backdrop?) Me and about six other moms worked on it last week. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Love my chickies!

Time to unwind after a grueling day of 1st grade....

because a grade like this on your first spelling test.........
Let's hear it for legible handwriting!!!!

deserves some of this......
Tyson loves to sit in his chair, lean all the way back with his feet up in the air and watch TV in the playroom( we refer to it as the mini man cave).

I am one proud Mommy. Tyson is doing so well in school. He loves to read and write and he even loves math (my personal favorite......NOT). I have been volunteering in his classroom on Thursdays to do "reading groups." I have really enjoyed reading with all of the kids. While I was there his teacher informed me that he is reading at the highest level in his class, he is where a child should be when they finish 2nd grade. WooHoo, Go Buddy! That's my boy!

Really??? Is he really a 1st grader?!?!?

Wow!!! Time really does fly. Tyson is officially a big 1st grader. It seems like just yesterday I was writing this post. This year was so different from last. Last year, he cried quite a bit and seemed pretty frightened, this year he was excited. And I only cried as I drove away from the school.
all geared up with his new backpack, new water bottle and new size 2 shoes

Jackson looked ready for the 1st day too

This year Paul was able to come for the 1st day drop off.

Yay for 1st grade! I'm proud of you Buddy!
