Some Valentine Love

Seriously?!? I mean sometimes they look so SWEET, as if they LOVE each other.

Sidenote: Look at those noses. They so have my nose. Maybe they will grow out of theirs.

If you look closely, you can see he has hands around her neck. I'm not sure that's a good thing.

What good little soldiers. I have no idea why they both have their hands behind their back.

My Handsome Boy

I tend to not take as many pictures of my Buddy these days. Totally my fault. I take full responsibility for not photographing my kiddos equally. This morning he was eating breakfast before school, and I looked up from my coffee and thought to myself WOW he looks so handsome and so old! So naturally I grabbed my camera and asked if I could get a picture of him. "You wanna take my picture Mommy?" He sounded surprised. "Without Emmy?" Break my heart why don't you.

Paul was out of town last night so I let Tyson sleep with me. I can not tell you how much I enjoyed it. I really LOVE cuddling with him.......although he snores just like his Daddy.

I shouldn't send him to school this handsome. He has already informed me that there are 3 girls that want to marry him......."after he marries Emmy." Being 5 is so sweet and innocent.

What's Black and White and Red all over?

Anyone who knows me, knows that I can't let a holiday go by without baking something special. Since the kids are celebrating Valentines Day tomorrow at school, I thought I would do my baking today. I baked vanilla cupcakes with a chocolate buttercream frosting. According to my taste testers, "they were yummy!" I searched the internet for a white cake recipe. Truth be told I have several already, I'm just not that crazy about them. I happen to like a light textured cake over a dense cake. Anyway, I found this one on Martha Stewart's website. And it was everything I could hope for in a white cupcake. And the frosting.....don't even get me started on the frosting.......it is literally heaven in a bowl (anything with 4 sticks of butter and 5 cups of powdered sugar not to mention the semi sweet chocolate should be illegal).

When I bought these black and white cupcake liners a few months ago I just knew they would be so cute for Valentines Day.

All packaged up and ready to be delivered to Tyson's and Em's teachers tomorrow. Aren't these boxes CUTE?!?!

I will be placing these in the back of the fridge......I don't trust my family.

She's the Queen of HER Castle

Well.....it's official there are no more babies in my house. "Bye bye kib," it was as simple as that for Em. No attachments, no emotions...nothing. I think she couldn't wait to be like Tyson with a big bed. As for me, I teared up as I took all of the crib sheets out of her room.

We decided to go with a daybed for her. It just suited the room best and would still give her plenty of play space. Not to mention, daybeds are just pretty and girlee and I had one as a little girl too. Her room has a huge bay window on one wall, so as not to upset the feng shui of the room, we put the bed on the same wall as the crib.

As for now she seems to LOVE it. We will be holding our breath tonight as we kiss her goodnight in hopes that she will STAY in it.

I swear she looked so BIG in her crib! How can she look so little in her new bed?!?

This is the everyday look her bed will actually have, note the "sports" stool at the foot of the bed.....so 2nd child, I haven't even got Em her own stool yet.

Happy 100th Day

For the last month or so all Tyson could talk about was the 100th day of school! "February 1st will be the 100th day of school Mommy!!!" He was so excited to go to school this morning....we left 10 minutes early, so he could turn collection of 100 marshmallows to his teacher before school started. Now I am pretty sure this is a relatively new school celebration because I do not remember this being special when I was in school many moons ago. The day consisted of lots and lots of talking about 100. 100 days, 100 donuts, 100 fruit loops (see the jewelry around my son's neck), 100 chews of bubble gum, 100 popcorn words, and of course counting to 100. And last but not least......the making of the 100 days crown. There is nothing Tyson likes more that a paper hat, especially one with a giant 100 on it. And I say that in all seriousness.......the boy LOVES paper hats.

He's trying to figure out how to make 100 with his fingers

that will work

Ready to be DONE with this.....

I can't wait to see this face again!
before the RSV

Poor little Pookiey, I brought out my camera and she just looked at me with this confused look and mumbled "cheeeeeese."
In the thick of it......no pun intended, thick mucous that is; horrible cough, high fever and labored breathing; RSV stands for Respiratory syncytial virus. Emmy was diagnosed with this lovely virus on Monday. Doctor told us all we could do was wait out the virus and "let it run it's course" and we could treat the symptoms, like Tylenol for fever and Albuterol for the breathing. Today has definitely been her worse day, as the doctor predicted the virus would peak today. It is just so hard to see your little one so sick. We have truly been blessed, my kids have been very healthy and are rarely sick. There is the occasional ear infection or seasonal cold but really nothing serious. So I really shouldn't complain, this will pass in a few days and she will be up, running and chasing Tyson around in no time.

I normally write about fun things this family does or things that are out of the ordinary. But Emmy being this sick is some what out of the ordinary. Emerson is a tough little chickie, it takes a lot to get her down. So when she just wants to lay around on the couch......I know she is not herself. I felt it was worth documenting.

****As I was typing this, Tyson came in and looked at picture of Emmy and said, "whoa......she looks mean and evil. " Sweet, loving big brother.

ONLY in Texas......

The sun, the glorious sun was out ALL day today and my kids couldn't wait to play outside after school. I cannot believe that only two short weeks ago these same kids were wearing gloves, hats, boots and scarves. Today they have on shorts, tee shirts and crocs. Only in Texas!!!!

What you have here are some seriously white legs wearing last year's shorts.

My dirty little princess

What's up "LEGS?"

Leave it to these two to find the biggest dirt pile in the backyard......note, half of that dirt pile is on on Emmy's rear end. What are they doing?
