"Rome wasn't built in a Day," or something like that.....
Today during Emmy's bath she mentioned she did not like the potty as she pointed to the toilet.
***(I should mention here that we really haven't begun the whole potty training experience yet. She hasn't shown any interest and every one that knows me knows that I wait until they are ready. That was out method with Tyson and it was done in one day with no accidents, let me repeat that, no accidents! When we have asked her about going potty, we have gotten a less than favorable response. It sounded something like "I don't like the potty. I don't go tee tee in the potty, I go in my diaper and on changing table." End of story.)
Pheww... that was a long side note. Anyway, Paul told her she had her own special "little potty." "Little potty?" Em was intrigued. Quick, Paul go grab the little potty from the garage. After her bath we started to put her jammies on but she wanted to sit on the little potty. How could we refuse that. So fast forward to about an hour later and this little naked blond is still sitting on the little potty waiting for "the tee tee to come out." Now I know this is a bit detailed but most of my readers are family or fellow mommies, so the phrase tee tee shouldn't make anyone squirm. Well, maybe just my Dad. Sorry Dad...... Emmy has absolutely NO modesty. I read her books, I held her hand, she even called Grandma to tell her she was still waiting, we talked and talked about everything under the sun all the while she would get stand up periodically bend over and check, "yep still no tee tee." I gotta say, Em is one limber 2 year old. I walked out of the bathroom for just a second to check on Paul and Tyson and I immediately hear, "Mommyyyy the tee tee come out." Yes, that's right my little punkin tee teed in the potty. Who knew all she needed was a little privacy.
By no means do I think we are on our way to being potty trained, that was really just a drop in the bucket...........or should I say drop in the potty. But it's a start. When I put her to bed, she asked me, "Mommy are you so proud of Emmy?" Yes, punkin! Mommy is so proud of you!!!

Can I just hit the "pause" button?
I know I've said this before but I feel the need to say it again. I just can't believe how fast time goes by. It almost seems unreal to think that my babies are almost 6 and 3. I think because I am spending so much time with Emerson and since Tyson is at school and it's just her and I each day. I keep seeing her change right before my eyes. I was having coffee with Mendi this morning and even she said a couple of times "Wow, Emmy isn't a baby anymore. She talks so much. She is so tall." These are all things I keep saying too but for some reason hearing her say them just hit home today. I don't know why. I feel like one minute I was carrying this chunky monkey around and the next I'm blow drying her beautiful blond hair while she kisses herself in the mirror (that's another post for another time).

November 2007These two pictures make me laugh. They were taken 26 months apart but they are very much the same. Same beautiful, bright blue eyes, the nose hasn't changed a bit, and her mouth is open because if she's awake she is talking.

On the Go
Sometimes I wish I could just freeze certain moments in my day. When the kids are using their imagination and creative play skills I could just watch forever. It is just so innocent and sweet. I walked into the living room and almost crashed into Em and her stroller. She was heading out. "Bye Mommy! Emmy and Baby Cinderella are going to Target and HEB."
Armed with her binoculars, faux purse, and a stroller full of plastic fruit she is ready to go

Paul's weekend........our weekend
I thought I'd give a recap of our weekend but also include Paul's weekend too. His weekend may have been more scenic than ours but I assure you we had more drama. I should mention that not only do I miss him when he goes on these rides, but I worry constantly. I worry that he may crash and brake an appendage, I worry that he may get lost somewhere on these desolate trails and it may take days for some rancher to find him...........I just worry. Don't get me wrong I am glad he has a hobby he enjoys, it just makes me nervous!
My babies......

My other baby......

It had lots of stairs upon which my daughter insisted on going up and down "by herself."
What he was doing......

What we were doing........

We were both playing on a playground.......
........his was just a whole lot bigger
There was nothing this pink on Paul's playground......
This was before the unfortunate library incident. The incident where I carried Em kicking and screaming (did I mention the snot and spit pouring out of her face.) Anyway it seems that you can check out most things from the library. However, leave it to my daughter to attach herself to the one item that is not available for check out. In case you are wondering the wooden puzzles found in the children's areas are NOT AVAILABLE for check out. And this 2 year old was not ok with that.
Good night from Big Bend National Park

Good night from Mom's house
