Brrrrrrr....it's 50 degrees !

This morning was our first CHILLY game. The temp was 50 but it sure felt colder at 7:45 on those baseball fields. Had to bring out the sweater and boots. I know people up north would laugh at us down here, but seriously it's been 200 degrees for the last four months. We've kind of gotten used to it.

Em was freezing and she hates the heat.

Warming up with some Starbucks after the game. "Tall hot chocolate please."

"Daddy this tooth kinda hurts"

Last night as Paul was tucking Tyson in for bed, Tyson told him "his tooth kinda hurt." Paul looked at it and gently touched it. "Buddy, you got a loose tooth!" "Can I go show Mommy?" Tyson came running in to show me. And yes indeed it was LOOSE! As he wiggled it for me, I felt a little uneasy about him going to bed with it......it wasn't kinda loose it was extremely loose. I couldn't imagine the horror if it fell out during the night and he swallowed it. So Paul convinced Tyson to let him touch it with the tweezers and OUT it came. Tyson teared up just a little and was unsure of what just had happened. Then the adrenaline kicked in and he couldn't wait to call Grandma. Paul and I quickly explained to Tyson that it may be a little late to inform the tooth fairy about the tooth loss(neither Paul nor I had any cash and unless Buddy was gonna swipe our debit card under his pillow the Tooth Fairy would not be paying out tonight). He was ok with that, he wanted to keep looking at the tooth and wasn't ready to give it away just yet.

Last night's event was a little bitter sweet for Mommy. As excited as I was for Tyson I was a little misty eyed too. Just another milestone to remind me that my baby is growing up too FAST.

I guess she looks a little shifty......

Sometimes I get this feeling that there are cameras following me and that some one is getting a good laugh at my expense. This morning I needed to run to the store to get a can of red beans for my soup. I thought I would just run into Walgreens and pay the highly inflated price just to spare me the trip of going into the grocery store with Em. Who by the way informed me this morning it was "her turn to wear boots today." So we hopped in the car, me with my purse and Em with her boots and 2 Pokemon pencils in hand. Quick side note: Tyson likes to carry around a pencil. It's like his all around, go to, super power sword, dagger, wand and other cool magic thing. There fore it's only natural that my daughter would want to carry a pencil with her too. Why not? OK, back to the story. So Em walked in with her two unsharpened pencils. I struck out on the can of beans so we were on our way out the door when I heard, "Excuse me, Ma'am! Ma'am!" I didn't look back since I hadn't bought anything I knew I hadn't left my keys on the counter or dropped my card or anything that would cause this cashier to call me back to the store with the stern voice. "Ma'am, did you pay for those?" Excuse me? Pay for what? I asked in my most sarcastic voice. "Those pencils. I didn't see her walk in with those." Maybe you weren't looking. She manages to repeat herself again (by this time people are gathering to watch the scene). "Did you pay for those?" No, actually I didn't. They were party favors she got at a birthday party, I say in my most sarcastic and highly irritated voice. "We have those in the store and I didn't see her come in with them." Really? You carry Pokemon pencils with worn out erasers? At this point she picks up the phone, I'm assuming to dial a manager or supervisor. C'mon Em, we're leaving. And just like that we walked out. I was DONE with that discussion.

I call mom to vent my frustration with this ridiculous situation and her first response is "you left? Is anyone following you? Have you looked in the rear view mirror?" MOM! We didn't hold up the Walgreens! They're not sending Horacio Cane in his hummer after us. Seriously?!?!? Are those cameras still rolling?

Family Fitness Night

Tuesday night Tyson's school held their Family Fitness Night. The school invites the students and their families to come up to the gym and play and exercise together. I thought the whole event was pretty neat. Tyson was excited for us to meet his PE coach and he couldn't wait for us to see his gym and all of the "cool stuff" they get to do there.

the kids played basketball

move over Tim Duncan.......not really, he shoots like his Mommy

Em had to get involved too. Note the band-aid, that injury happened as we were walking in. She was running with Tyson and just wiped out and skinned her knee. It's always something with her. I literally have to keep band-aids and Neosporin in my purse at all times.

Team Pictures

Monday evening the guys had team pictures before practice. Trying to get ten five year old boys to smile and look the same direction at the same time is almost an impossible task. When I met my husband 11 years ago he didn't like kids much less want his own. Obviously that's changed. SO when I see him smiling and joking with Tyson and his teammates I can't help but get a little tickled.

Four VERY LONG hours

Saturday afternoon there were several thunderstorms that hit the San Antonio area. Unfortunately, it knocked out our power..........FOR 4 HOURS! Now to the average person(with out kids) four hours is not a big deal. However if you are lucky enough to have little people around the house this is a HUGE event. Emerson's biggest concern was the fact that "her TV not workin!" And Tyson's biggest issue was the lighting or lack thereof. Luckily I am a candle freak. So I happen to have at least 10 half burnt jar candles laying around the hutch drawers. My house smelled of a nice floral, fall harvest spice and last years Christmas scent all rolled into one aroma. The kids played outside till it was time to go out to eat, since obviously I wasn't going to cook anything and was trying to minimize the amount of time we opened the fridge. We got home and bathed the kids by candlelight. They both cried because it was too dark. Nice. By this time it was nearing 8:00 and Tyson was getting pretty nervous about the darkness. Despite the fact we were reading books with a flashlight and trying to make it "fun" like camping. "This is nothing like camping," according to Tyson. Then a little after 8, we noticed flashing lights outside and the CPS man was pulling up to our electric pole. Power was back on within minutes. Bedtime crisis with out power averted!!!!
Nothing else to do with out power, so why not photograph the kids.

Ever wonder what your kids say when you're not around?

I just got home from having lunch with Tyson. I must say say there is nothing appetizing about kindergarten lunch. I literally get to see what everybody is eating, and by "see" I mean watch it swish around in their little mouths as they scream and talk to each other. The phrase "say it, don't spray it" comes to mind. As I'm sitting with my Tyson I feel a tap on my shoulder. I look over and this little girl who shall remain nameless says "my little sister touches her bottom and then puts her hands in her mouth." Really?!?! Then I feel yet another tap. "what's your name?" My name is Jill. "Are you Tyson's mommy?" I sure am. "My mommy calls me her little love bug." Oh that's nice. Then yet another little boys says to me, "that's a nice purse, I bet it costs a lot of money?" No comment.
And it just goes on, and on, and onnnnnn. So once I got past all of that random chit chat I was able to enjoy sitting with Tyson while he pointed out different kids to me, including Emily. "I like Emily mommy....like how I liked Mary last year." Lovely. What have you learned today Buddy? Let's get back to why you're at school.
