Tyson got the Red Rider BB Gun for Christmas last year and he loves to shoot. We are fortunate to have a large backyard outside city limits where him and Paul can practice. He's actually pretty good. I can't help but think of A Christmas Story every time he gets it out.
Love this little guy. He kept getting upset with me taking his picture. "Mommy, you're messing me up, I can't concentrate on my target. No more pictures!"

Really??? Is he really a 1st grader?!?!?
Wow!!! Time really does fly. Tyson is officially a big 1st grader. It seems like just yesterday I was writing this post. This year was so different from last. Last year, he cried quite a bit and seemed pretty frightened, this year he was excited. And I only cried as I drove away from the school.

"presents stacked to the ceiling and confetti falling from the sky"
this is what my darling daughter told me she expected to see at her party, God love her! Um, how 'bout 10 kids and a pinata?
Em turned 3 on August 15th, but her party was planned for the 22nd and since Em insists that party means birthday it just wasn't worth the discussion. So for all practical purposes yesterday was her birthday. We planned a small party at the house with just a few kids. The theme was ice cream sundaes, "make sundaes on Sunday with Emerson." It was supposed to be a simple and small party, but............well, I'm not good at small. I really enjoying hosting events, so it was a bit larger than my husband expected. But the important thing was that my Emmy had a "great party!"
My Buddy was such a big help with the party, he too enjoys hosting events (after he hides all his "good" toys).
I made ice cream cone cupcakes. They were pretty simple and super cute. But not easily transported. Just ask me how many ended up upside down on the floor.
Sundae time!!!! They had an array of sugar I mean toppings to choose from. We had gummi bears, mini m&m's, sprinkles, cherries and of course chocolate and strawberry sauce.
Gift opening was the usual chaos it always is. I really wanted to wait and open after the guests left, but Emmy was not on board with that plan.

Goodbye summer break!
Last week completely flew right by me. I was consumed with multiple PTA commitments that kept me from doing anything fun much less blogging about it. Thankfully Dad came in to help out with the kids while I did PTA stuff. The kids were in heaven because Grandpa was here. However, my only free day was Friday and we were able to spend it with our friends Jackson, Camden, Jolynn, Sara and Morgan at the river. I thought it was a perfect ending to a perfect summer.
The weather was so nice that morning, the kids even enjoyed the shady playground before heading down to the water.
Finally!!!!
Tyson finally lost his other front top tooth last Monday. It had been dangling there for at least 2 weeks. He would wiggle, we would wiggle......nothing. It would not come out. Monday we were driving to the gym and him and Em were eating Gummy Cherries, when I heard "Mommy.....quick pull over, my tooth came out on the cherry. And they say gummy candy is bad for you.

"Part II for your blog Mommy."
Well........ after eating lots and lots of my parsley they stuffed themselves silly and attached themselves to some sticks Tyson had placed in the container and formed their chrysalises. Then he moved the sticks and put them outside under a larger net. Then after a couple more weeks they opened this morning into beautiful butterflies.
This one literally hatched out of it right in front of our eyes. "Mother nature is pretty cool, right Mommy?" Yeah, Buddy it is. It really is.
Tyson insisted they needed some nectar to get strength to fly away. He suggested an orange.

SWEET playdate
15 unfrosted cupcakes, a variety of toppings and frostings, 15 excited little people = a fantastic playdate. My friend Melisa organized a play date at Kates Frosting. Every child choose a flavor of cupcake and then got to decorate it. Everyone knows my kids are no stranger to baking and decorating sweets. They loved it. Tyson even asked if "he could decorate 2, since he was the oldest kid here." Um, no this is decorate a cupcake play date not decorate a cupcake or 2.

More river fun......this time we brought the grandparents
Mom and Dad came in for the weekend, kind of a last minute trip. We thought a family(even Tempe came) trip to the Guadalupe would be fun. The kids love having Mom and Dad around. Tyson is way more comfortable in the water now and we knew he would want to show off some of his new skills.
Speaking of hat and stylish. This one was little too comfortable in the water and swallowed some rio water as soon as we got there. Fortunately she bounced back quickly and put on her floaties.
Yes, that is my Tyson with his face in the water. This photo was not touched up, he really put his face in the water. And I am so proud of him.
